Base Stations

Central to any radio system is the base station. This can take one of three basic forms -

• Fixed Mobile, which just acts as a standard radio but is fixed in a manned office.
• Talkthrough Base - as a fixed mobile but can be switched into repeater mode.
• Repeater - often at a remote site, permanently repeating the signal via a high aerial to gain an extended range.
